Care for a lifetime – Young adults: Skin care between 20 and 30 years of age

Young adults and skincare

Life is a constant state of change. We age and we mature. Our skin is also affected by this maturing process. At 20, it’s in top shape and the cells take about 28 days to regenerate. From the age of 30, this regeneration already takes considerably more time, at about 40 days.

By the end of our twenties at the latest, depending on lifestyle and disposition, wrinkles of greater or lesser depth and slackening connective tissue start to become noticeable. Between 20 and 30, protective, moisturizing skin care is used as a prevention to combat skin aging and to minimize the first appearing wrinkles and fine lines.

Protection and revitalization of cells

Cell protection is and always will be one of the most efficient strategies for slowing down the skin aging process. Among the most powerful actors against perfect skin are free radicals, which can cause oxidative stress. Free radicals are produced under the influence of UV radiation or environmental pollution, for example, and can get into our body from the air.

Highly reactive oxygen-containing compounds attack cells, causing destruction right down to the DNA. Free radicals can trigger chain reactions that create more free radicals and thus destroy the collagen and elastic fibres of the skin and connective tissue. Oxidative stress is therefore considered one of the main causes of premature skin aging.

Care products with active substances that protect the skin against oxidative stress are ideally suited to cell-protecting and preventive care of young skin.

Sun protection

What could be nicer than lying back and relaxing on a beach and simply enjoying the sun? The sunlight stimulates the circulation, increases the oxygen content in the blood, and produces the happy hormone serotonin. For our skin, however, sunbathing is anything but recreational. Too much sun is a stress for the skin, and causes irreparable damage. Those who bask in the sun at this age without good protection will eventually pay the price. Because the skin never forgets.

Therefore, reliable sun protection for healthy skin is a must already at a young age and is the best prevention against premature skin aging.

Minimizing the first wrinkles and fine lines

Between 20 and 30, the skin’s fat production drops by around 30%. Collagen production also declines. The skin starts tending towards dryness and wrinkles. The first wrinkles and lines appear especially around the areas heavily stressed by expressions, like the eyes and forehead. At this age, the skin needs ample moisture.

The ages between 20 and 30 are also the time for starting gentle anti-aging care. Even if the skin is tight and elastic, premature skin aging can be prevented by gentle, moisturizing anti-aging care.

Formulations with unique texture

By adding texturizers, cosmetics producers can motivate young consumers in particular to repurchase their products. Texturizers modify those properties of the final formulation that consumers directly perceive as quality criteria. Texturizers in the form of tiny spheres stand out for high elasticity, which has a positive effect on the feel of skin care products.

Furthermore, texturizers lend the skin vitality and a uniform complexion. When added to care products, claims such as increased elasticity, tightening, vitality, and radiance of the complexion can be made.
