Neodermyl™ – «needle-free» collagen and elastin filler
The extracellular matrix (ECM) consists of many essential components, among them various types of collagen (mainly collagen I and III) and elastin, that are responsible for skin properties such as suppleness, elasticity, and firmness.
As we age, the enzymes collagenase and peptidase relentlessly break down collagen and elastin, where collagen I, the “youth collagen”, breaks down the fastest until it almost disappears. Fibroblasts almost completely shut down their normal metabolism, which further weakens the collagen/elastin network, causing wrinkles to form and¬ the skin to lose its firmness and elasticity.
This is where NEODERMYL™ helps, by supplying the dormant fibroblasts with energy in the form of MG6P (methyl-glucoside-6-phosphate). In order to re-stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, NEODERMYL™ additionally supplies the amino acids lysine and proline and the element copper.
In-vitro tests showed that incubation of fibroblasts with NEODERMYL™ resulted in increased vitality and pro-collagen I production. Correspondingly, treatment of skin explants with NEODERMYL™ at a concentration of merely 0.5% led to increased production of collagens I and II, and of tropoelastin and elastin.
Clinical studies with 20 volunteers showed that treatment with 1% NEODERMYL™ already resulted in significantly increased collagen density and network quality (anisotropy index) after 15 days. The treatment furthermore increased skin firmness and elasticity while clearly reducing wrinkle depth and volume.
