Sensient Food Colors Europe has a highly varied range of color solutions for the food industry. Sensient’s range of colors fall into the three main categories of synthetic colors, natural colors and coloring foodstuffs.
The great thing about coloring foodstuffs is that they have no E-number. As we look at the modern market, we clearly recognize that consumers are increasingly conscious about naturalness and sustainability. Sensient is keen to uphold this trend with its new developments.
Products containing palm oil are still omnipresent in the market, even in products you wouldn’t necessarily expect them, like in food colorings. Because palm oil is well known to be a source of major ecological problems, because of where and how it is grown, Sensient is working as a pioneer in developing palm oil free colors, and steadily expanding its range with innovative and sustainable color solutions.
The next innovation step will come at the end of 2018, when they launch a whole range of palm oil free products. Focus is on replacing palm oil with alternatives made from European olive oil and rapeseed oil. These oil components have been researched in a special programmer to guarantee high stability of the food colors.
Palm oil free colors to be launched at the end of 2018:
These palm oil free colors are especially suitable for the following applications:
The development of these palm oil free types has replaced various ingredients in the standard colors. Glycerin from palm oil is replaced by glycerin from regional rapeseed oil, for example. Furthermore, alternative polysorbates are used that are obtained from carefully selected oils with high oleic acid contents, such as sunflower and olive oil of European origin.
An environmentally friendly lifestyle is becoming increasingly important in society. In particular, the consumption of food from sustainable cultivation is becoming increasingly important.
The market is demanding alternatives to palm oil based products. With Lamequick CN 7720, BASF has launched a new whipping agent.
