The dietary fibre psyllium is a soluble fibre obtained from the seed husks of Plantago ovata. The seeds of this plant are also variously known as “ispaghula”, “isabgol”, “flea” or simply “Plantago” seeds. Psyllium’s physiological and technologically multifunctional properties predestine it for a wide range of applications in the food industry.
